CGEn and the Pan-Canadian Genome Library establish framework to enable integration of HostSeq Data

CGEn continues to take important steps to broaden the use and impact of HostSeq. CGEn and the Pan-Canadian Genome Library (PCGL), housed at McGill University, have now established the legal framework to enable HostSeq data to be added to the PCGL, with data harmonization and deposition planned over the coming months.

As we continue this work, researchers can continue to apply for HostSeq data access via the process outlined on the CGEn HostSeq website

More about HostSeq:

HostSeq is a national Canadian initiative led by CGEn, funded by Innovation, Science, Economic Development (ISED) Canada through Genome Canada’s CanCOGeN Initiative. HostSeq brought together genomic sequencing data from 15 COVID-19 research studies and clinical information from over 10,000 Canadians, creating a genomic and clinical databank that is broadly consented for health research, giving Canadian scientists access to a rich dataset to help analyze and identify genetic determinants of health from a Canadian perspective.

HostSeq data has already supported research in many facets of COVID-19 and other diseases – identifying biomarkers for disease severity, predicting treatment response, identifying genetic risk and protective factors, and developing novel tools and techniques.
