Note from CGEn
Happy DNA Day! This day (April 25th) commemorates the discovery of the DNA double helix structure by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953, as well as the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003, marking significant milestones in our understanding of genetics and genomics.
As we celebrate DNA Day, we are also reflecting on CGEn’s work in the Canadian and international genomics community. Since its inception, CGEn and its nodes in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal have been instrumental in enabling genomic science in Canada, facilitating research across health, conservation and sustainability, and agriculture. To date, CGEn has sequenced over 90,000 human and non-human genomes and generated more 10.5 petabases of data.
